How to grab your pet insurance policy PDF (no more digging through emails)

I swear my inbox is just a black hole at this point.

You know the feeling. Standing at the vet’s reception desk, heart racing because your dog just ate something he really shouldn’t have, and they ask for your policy number.

And you have no clue where it is.

That’s actually how I ended up finally learning where to actually find those documents. Not my finest moment, but here we are.

Let me save you the panic.

Most portals have the same setup

Literally every pet insurance company uses the same logic. Whether it’s called a Member Center, Customer Portal, or Dashboard – same thing.

Here’s what you do.

Log in to your account – the one you used when you first signed up. At Sonnet, once you set up your Customer Portal, you can access your policy docs 24/7. Wagmo works the same way – pick your pet’s profile, go to Insurance Information, then scroll to the Documents section.

See? Told you.

The “download policy document” step is always hiding somewhere

Usually under an Account menu or a Documents tab.

With Embrace, you log into MyEmbrace, select Account from the Quick Links menu, then choose View Policy Documents. A PDF just downloads right onto your computer or phone. Easy.

ManyPets actually emails you the document right when you buy the policy, so your inbox might already have it. Just check your spam folder – I’ve had important emails end up there more times than I want to admit.

Why you actually need that PDF on hand

Here’s the thing nobody tells you.

Your policy document isn’t just some boring terms and conditions you signed and forgot about. It literally tells you what’s covered and what’s not. Waiting until you’re already at the emergency vet to figure that out? Not ideal.

The US pet insurance market hit $6.48 billion in 2025, which just means more people are finally figuring out this is a thing. But adoption is still below 5% for most pets. So if you have insurance, you’re actually ahead of the curve.

One weird trick I learned the hard way

Download your policy document right now. Not later. Not “I’ll do it this weekend.” Now.

Because guess what – when your cat decides 3 AM is the perfect time to have a crisis, you’re not going to be in the mood to hunt through five different tabs on your phone while trying to comfort a screaming animal.

Save it to your phone’s files. Take a screenshot of the declarations page with your policy number. Keep it in a notes app.

I’m not kidding.

Spot Pet Insurance has this Member Center thing where active policyholders can manage everything in one place. That’s great and all, but doesn’t help if you have no cell service at the vet.

A quick note for the overthinkers

If you’ve downloaded the PDF but still feel like you’re missing something? You’re probably fine.

Most policies these days – whether it’s Trupanion, Nationwide, or one of the smaller ones – all offer customer service if you genuinely can’t find your documents online. They’ve dealt with panicked pet parents before. Trust me.

But downloading that PDF before you need it? That’s the one thing that’ll actually save your sanity.

Now go grab it. Your future self (and your pet) will thank you.
